Students must complete 6 credits in technical courses and 6 credits in art history/art theory/philosophy during the first 6 semesters. Minimum 2 credits should be completed in art theory. After successfully completing a course, students receive confirmation of attendance from the professor or instructor, which must be handed in the registrar's office. An intermediate exam is required between the second and fourth semester, which is used to decide about a student’s further studies at the Städelschule. A class change is possible after passed intermediate examination and agreement with the respective professors. The extension of the study period of a maximum of two semesters is possible on request. Upon successful completion of the studies, a certificate of full study with the title of "Meisterschüler" can be requested.
All courses and class meetings will be held in English.
Deadlines for re-registration
Summer semester: 01.02. – 28.02.
Semester fee due by 28.02.
Winter semester: 01.07 – 31.08.
Semester fee due by 31.08.
Re-registration takes place in the registrar’s office (Studierendensekretariat) and you must show your student ID or guest student card after the semester fee has been paid. Only then are you classified as enrolled.

Complete course of fine art:
The fee is currently € 348,50 per semester and includes an RMV Ticket.
(RMV semester ticket € 214.00, accident insurance € 1.50, social security contribution € 133.00)
Guest course of fine art:
The fee is currently € 244.50. It does not include an RMV Ticket.
