Vortrag
Ahmet Ögüt: short-term, long-term, life-time
Mittwoch, 16. Mai 2018, 19 Uhr, Aula

Ahmet Öğüt will talk about a selection of his early works up until the present day, will give an introduction into his overall practice from quick interventions to long-term projects. The work of Ahmet Öğüt is found on the street, on stage, in lecture halls, in the museum or through films. Working across media, the Kurdish artist transforms different histories or common narratives with a lightness of touch, often using humour. Similarly, his involvement in long-term projects and commitment to collaborative working processes, often outside the spheres of art, show an awareness of art’s ability to permeate and affect different institutional, social and political structures.

Born in Silvan, Diyarbakir, Ahmet Öğüt (*1981) lives and works in Amsterdam and Berlin. He works across different media and has exhibited widely, more recently with solo presentations at KOW, Berlin and Witte de With, Rotterdam (both 2017), Galerie Wedding, Berlin (2016), Chisenhale, London (2015) and Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (2015). In 2015, he also initiated the The Silent University, a solidarity based knowledge exchange platform by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.

Der Vortrag findet in englischer Sprache statt.
