Writings by Günter Bock, Founder of Foundation Städelschule für Baukunst (2003).

Architecture & Theory – Production and Reflection

Published by Stiftung Städelschule für Baukunst – Luise King

Subsequent to the symposium”Architecture &Theory,” the book Architecture & Theory (Junius Verlag Hamburg) was published in November 2009.

The book is a plea for the unity of theory and praxis. It sheds light on shifts in theoretical concepts and examines the current situation from different perspectives, drawing our attention to alternative strategies and models of integrated thought and action within the creative process.

Next to texts from the symposium participants appear additional essays by other international experts in their field. Next to Kazuyo Sejima (Tokio), Ben van Berkel (Amsterdam), Gion A. Caminada (Vrin/Zürich), Werner Oechslin (Zurich), Gerd de Bruyn (Stuttgart), Yushi Uehara (Amsterdam), and Aaron Betsky (Cincinnati) are contributions by authors Dalibor Vesely (London), Peter Cachola Schmal (Frankfurt), Otto Kapfinger (Vienna), Mark Jarzombek ( Cambridge MA) and Bart Lootsma (Innsbruck).

The book is published in English and German.
