MEDIA VILLAGE - PORTO MARAVILHA, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL
MEDIA VILLAGE - PORTO MARAVILHA is the Design Thesis Brief for 2010. The task comprises the urban design of a media village in Rio de Janeiro’s old port, Porto Maravilha, and the design of one mixed use building which must allow for up to 100 accommodation units in order to meet a total capacity of up to 4000 inhabitants for the village at Santa Christo in Porto Maravilha. The brief assumes that this village is one of several media villages that will be built for the 2016 Olympics.
The individual building design proposals shall be situated within the urban design proposals. Each building design is to be developed on the basis of the research and experiments undertaken, to this day, by each student. The research and experiments make up a design strategy that should lend a clear profile to the building design and with which various design aspects can be developed and solved.
