SAC adds two new specialisations

SAC is proud to announce two new specialisations alongside its existing specialisation in Advanced Architectural Design. These are Architecture and Performative Design and Architecture and Critical Spatial Practice.Specialisation is chosen at the end of the first year of studies.

Jeffrey Kipnis

Theory seminar

Architectural theorists, professor Beatriz Colomina (Princeton University) and dean and professor Mark Wigley (Columbia University) return to SAC to conduct theory seminars. The visit is scheduled for January 9-11, continues their long-standing teaching engagements in SAC and is the first of a series of visits in 2010. The programme includes sessions with both the First Year and Diploma Groups .

Graduation Dinner

The annual Graduation Dinner was held to celebrate the graduating class of 2009. According to SAC tradition, the dinner is prepared by the new First Year Group and sees three generations of SAC students gathered for the festive purpose.

Semester starts

SAC is pleased to announce the new academic year and would like to welcome the largest first-year group in Städelschule Architecture Class history. PLEASURE AND POLEMICS IN ARCHITECTURE

The exhibition, “Pleasure and Polemics in Architecture”, which opens in the German Architecture Museum on July 11, 2009, pays tribute to the role of the pavilion in architecture. The contribution of SAC to the exhibition attempts to document and embody the polemical and experimental role that the pavilion typology always has had in architecture.

Lars Nixdorff joins SAC

Lars Nixdorff, SAC Class of 2005, joins the faculty of SAC as a guest professor. Lars, who has spent the last two years with UNStudio in Amsterdam, returns to Frankfurt to strengthen the teaching program and takes on responsibility, amongst other things, for technical training in design and modeling.

Nikolaus Hirsch, renown architect who co-authored the design for the new synagogue in Dresden and a current installation in the Manifesta in Bolzano (Italy), will be contributing to SAC's program this year. Hirsch has been appointed a guest professor in Städelschule.
