Shared Domains : Architecture and Contamination
The project explores the possibilities to apply the notion of contamination to architecture. Contamination, as a process, implies: the presence of two or more systems, the contact between them and a certain degree of unpredictability. These are the starting point to develop a project as an exercise to hybridize apparently diverging entities in a single structure, which simultaneously includes and emphasizes multiplicity. The programatic and geometrical principles work interconnected through the use of cores/plugs and the articulation of unit-based spaces between them. This layout is then unfolded in a project in which holes and corners are the actual means to activate the process of contamination: they drive the flows of people and energy and provide a spatial field for shared domains.
