The building proposal is for a research and learning center combined with a tourist and visitor's service. Thus, the building also includes a restaurant, library and library lounge. A central part of its function centers on the exchange and dissemination of knowledge. This is catered to by "exchange and information" zones that allow students, researchers and tourists to meet in informal areas to socialize and discuss.
The building is situated on the northern part of the site and generates a connection between the exiting urban structure of Reykjavik and the coast to the south. It is constructed from metal, structural frames and clad with metal sheeting and glazed panels.
