END-OF-YEAR EVENTS 2010

End-Of-Year Presentation

SAC is proud to announce the programme for its End-of-Year Events 2010 taking place at the Diamantenbörse (Stephanstrasse 1-3, 60313 Frankfurt) on 7-9 July 2010. As well as the traditional round of student work reviews, SAC hosts two exhibitions alongside a public discussion between Jeffrey Kipnis and Ben van Berkel and the Günter Bock Prize Award ceremony.

Student Work and Master Thesis Review

The reviews offer a platform for critical and reflective discussions on the work produced by the current first and second year students of the architecture class. The end-of-year review panel includes Jeffrey Kipnis, Mark Wigley, Beatriz Colomina, Ciro Pirondi, Eduardo Ferroni, Carla Juacaba and Achim Menges as well as SAC faculty members.
First year students present their research investigations and design proposals for a project entitled "A Country House".
Second year students present their Master Thesis Projects entitled Media village for the Games of the XXXI Olympia in Rio de Janeiro. The design proposals are the culmination of architectural research and experiments carried out during their two-year studies at SAC.

Günter Bock Prize

In its fourth year, the Günter Bock Prize will be awarded to a first year student whose general performance and portfolio is outstanding. The prize is named after the previous leader of the Architecture Class, an architect from Frankfurt Günter Bock (1918-2002).
The prize is supplied by the Lions Club Frankfurt Flughafen and previous recipients are Anton Savov (2007), Michele Albanelli (2008) and Maria Kochneva (2009). The prize jury is comprised of the projects review panel, headed by professor Ben van Berkel and professor Johan Bettum.

Dean’s Honorary Lecture 2010

The Dean’s Honorary Lecture 2010 is delivered by world-renowned architectural theorist and critic Jeffrey Kipnis, professor at Ohio State University Department of Architecture and visiting professor at GSD, Harvard; GSAPP, Columbia and Angewandte Kunst, Vienna.
