Linear realities
The thesis proposal is for a multi-program complex on the northern side of the site. The building is intricately linked to the surrounding road system and takes an organizational clue from the infrastructural typology of highway junctions. In this manner, the building organization attempts to generate multiple flow of users and visitors that become interlaced at various programmatic junctions and in common zones.
The building program includes a library, cinema complex, greenhouses, a hotel with swimming pool and spas, laboratories for research and a conference and educational center. In order to achieve the aimed for, interlaced distribution of these programs within the building envelope, a circuit model for infrastructural connectivity was derived through an analysis of Casa da Musica by OMA in Porto. The model was processed through a series of steps involving optimization in Catia.
Eventually, the infrastructural and programmatic bands was laid down according to mutliple, circular and temporal bands.
