The city of Frankfurt is one of the most important financial centers in Europe. With its regional network of financial institutions, banks, consultants and business schools it offers a perfect breeding ground for new ideas concerning the economic market.
The high-rise located in Senckenberg integrates all economic interest groups and offers the possibility of interconnections. With the building’s layout the interconnected working of the different disciplines will be supported. Especially the connection of the “the real market” and the intellectual background knowledge will lead to quicker and integral decision making processes. There for the mind lab offers 4 main intersection zones which are distributed through out the building. These zones even include public and urban functions (e.g.: cinema, library, bistro,…). The concentrated and closed for the public working spaces are located in between.
Integrating the public, which is usually kept at a certain distance to these institutions, is one the mayor driving forces of the design. The space underneath the high-rise is as open and public as possible. In contrast to the old university buildings it allows the people living in Senckenberg to use the whole area as public space. In addition the mind lab provides the area with cultural facilities.
The perforated design of the high-rise supports the air ventilation and sunlight distribution through out the day.
